2012 is the Year of the Dragon! Our title page is like a Japanese New Year postcard, featuring a たつtatsu. あけましておめでとうございます！ Akemashite omedetō gozaimasu ! Best wishes for the New Year!
We made daruma.
We make a wish and colour in one eye.
When we make our wish come true, we will colour the other eye.
Daruma remind us of our College heart value, 'perseverance'.
On February 3 we celebrated 節分Setsubun. We had fun chasing away a Bad Luck dude called おにoni. (He looked a lot like sensei with a mask on…!) We threw rice and shouted: おにはそと、ふくはうち！ Oni wa soto, fuku wa uchi! Bad luck go away, good luck come and stay!
Then we ateまめ[mame] – roasted soya beans. We ate as many as our age for good luck. Japanese for our tastebuds is fun!
